Zim All Star Profile: Simbarashe

My name is Simbarashe Satumba, age 29. I am the All Star for Kuwadzana and have been part of H4H for the last nine years. I have done a diploma in sports administration, theology, and am currently enrolling for a counselling degree. When I got to be part of the H4H team I wanted to discover my greatest potential and this has proved to be the best part of my life. Working with young people and seeing them grow through our development program took my heart. I have become a role model in my community and I am happy with what has become of me.

We have nine primary schools and four high schools in our community. I work with five volunteers, namely: Hans Konde, Charles Chinungu, Gilbert Chinungu, Nigel and Dunisani. Community development has worked through our basketball and life skills program and not even the political situation affected us. In fact,  in my community we have recieved a lot of support, even from the schools. When we started the program in Kuwadzana only one school had a basketball court, thus Kuwadzana 1 primary and to date only one school out of nine doesn’t have a basketball court. Many schools to courts in a community means more kids are being developed for the better in a community.

We have a love for what we do and through the programs we have seen a great deal of change in our communities and the development is tremendous. I love my job!
