The Zim Team is pleased to announce the following leaders in their communities who recently applied for a prestigious scholarship:
Adios Gano, Clive Masawi, Douglas Karigonjo, Richard Kuzakwawo, Faith Sekete, Getrude Bvindi, and Lisbon Mudengezi
Adios Gano and Clive Masawi Savanhu are straight from the Hoops 4 Hope program. They started in the early years of their primary education… and now they will be studying for their degrees. A sign of the times – a true Hoops 4 Hope success story. Thanks in advance to friends of the David Anderson Foundation for the opportunity.
Both younsters are great basketball players, yet they also carry great minds. We are all excited about what can come out of their story. This is the inspiration we have been missing all along. Two of our beneficiaries will be going all the way to the top and will succeed where so many fail in this country. This could be a way to get out of their everyday hardships and beat the odds. I know, soon they will be great model who will help Hoops 4 Hope.
Douglas Karugonjo, who wishes to study Food Technology, came from the ABC Camp. He is a young man with a good mind and was raised by a single mom. His mom is overjoyed by the application!
Interestingly, Richard Kuzakwawo, who wishes to study Psychology, is a teacher at Shiriyedenga in Glen Norah. He stayed behind the whole time to welcome the Lenzner Family (U.S.A. Supporters) when they visited Glen Norah. He is a level headed person who loves the program. He understands the challenges we face and shares the joy of our success.
Faith is in our Admin, All Star, if you like. She has been through the mill and is excited at the thought of studying for a degree. We are happy to see a lady All Star taking up the challenge. Allan (Lenzner) really encouraged me to encourage the girls to stand up and benefit too.
Getrude volunteers from now and again in Glen Norah. Lisbon is from that family where we spent the night in Chinhoyi long back with Jeff Gamble (H4H Volunteer, Friend, and Old School Strike Team). His subjects included English Literature. . .The Merchants of Venice… those kinds of stories.
So there you have it friends… Hoops 4 Hope will champion education on top of that we do in communities. We believe education is a tool to understand the the world and each other and a way to beat the odds.
