On the 9th of April the ‘YDF Senior Youth Leaders Forum’ organised a festival for the YDF Toolkit coaches. The festival was a one day tournament which brought together coaches and MVPs and other youth coaches from the YDF Toolkit partners in the Western Cape.
At the festival there were MVPs and coaches representing the YDF programs from Lavender Hill,Langa, Khayelitsha, Crossroads and Philippi. In addition, 10 coaches from Doringbaai, Ebenezer, Lutzville and Koekenaap made the 500 km trip down to represent the YDF West Coast Program. The tournament was designed to give the MVPs and coaches a platform where they could share ideas and experiences.
In the morning a DJ welcomed the coaches as they gathered at the South African Homeless Street Soccer pitch at Schaapkraal near Philippi. After breakfast, and a brief Monitoring and Evaluation session, the tournament kicked off. Teams consisted of 3 girls and 2 boys chosen from different organisations.
After the winning team had received their prizes, a braai was held to round the day off. Tired and satisfied, the coaches returned home having enjoyed a day of football, teambuilding and fun.
