The real difference is made by devoted individuals, contributing organizations and volunteers.
All Star and MVP Team Coaches
Our secret weapon is the Coach. A good coach is much more than just a sports teacher; he or she is:
- A mentor and role model who helps young people cultivate the discipline that will help them achieve success in other parts of their lives;
- A peer educator who cares and who can give the support a young person needs to build Life Skills as well as sport skills;
- A recruited, trained, and caring individual who teaches the game they love while helping children develop the skills to stay healthy and excel in the game and in life.
Our coaches aim to become effective activists and advocates for positive change in the lives of these young people who are growing up in challenging environments. The educational role the MVP and All Star coaches play is proactive rather than reactive. They provide a rare opportunity to deliver real life skills on a repetitive basis and discuss those important life changing topics with young people.
